The Makeup Museum has come up with a way to help inspire us to connect through makeup, while we’re staying at home due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Generations of Beauty campaign intends to spark conversation around beauty-related memories to help bring loved ones together, virtually. It is a reminder to connect with seniors, who are often grandparents — and who may be especially lonely while having to remain socially distant. Caitlin Collins, Makeup Museum’s co-founder, debuted the campaign today with a Q+A video interview with her grandmother, Maureen Denges, on Makeup Museum’s Instagram. Their conversation highlights Denges’s personal 1950’s beauty memories along with beauty artifacts she acquired in this decade such as the exquisite 20 Carats perfume and uniquely crafted beauty combs and makeup compacts. Collins says she hopes to encourage beauty lovers around the world to speak with their loved ones about makeup history. “Normally, with life moving so quickly, we may not take the opportunity to collect these personal, and often entertaining and uplifting, beauty accounts,” she says. Collins adds, “You may be surprised what you learn. I know I was!” Help Raise Money for Meals on Wheels The Makeup Museum will donate $1 for every social media comment or like on its #GenerationsOfBeauty posts on Instagram this month, up to $10,000, to Meals on Wheels. Submit Your Own Video Interview Speak to a loved one about their beauty memories — and submit your video Q+A, or a photo plus a description, to the Makeup Museum at this email address. Not sure what to ask? Speak to an older family member or friend about their most memorable “beauty moments,” cherished brands and products, or favorite beauty icons. Submissions must also include participants’ full name and written approval to use the video or photo content across Makeup Museum’s digital channels.
